Ever changing and evolving, dental technology is making dentistry more comfortable, more conservative and more precise than ever before! Our practice is environmentally friendly. We have created a paperless office by using electronic record keeping for our patient files, eliminating paper waste.
Dr. Brown has integrated the following technology into her practice.
Digital x-rays benefit both dentist and patient. Most importantly, digital x-rays significantly decrease the exposure time to radiation. With a digital x-ray, we take a picture of your teeth, and then almost immediately see it on a computer monitor. This large, color-enhanced image lets us get a better picture of your oral health, allowing for earlier treatment. This process is also better for the environment as it doesn’t use photo chemicals and traditional film, thus eliminating waste.
As with any cancer, early detection is essential in oral cancer. This tool makes it quick and simple for us to spot abnormal or pre-cancerous cells with the use of a special blue light. If you have any abnormal cells, the VELscope will spot them. And because VELscope lets us spot any early signs of cancer, treatment is usually quick and efficient, letting you get back to your healthy smile and your life!
The Oral CDX is a simple, yet remarkably effective device used to screen for oral cancer. Patients often have small oral “spots” in their mouths that, if left untreated, ould turn into cancer cells.
Using the CDX, Dr. Brown can painlessly take a small sample of ells from the spot for testing. If they’re found to be pre-cancerous, the spot can be easily removed – years before it has the potential to do serious harm.
Stop the dangers of periodontal disease before they start! Oral DNA Molecular Testing is the latest diagnostic system for periodontal disease risks. This clinical test provides accurate information about the pathogenic bacteria in your mouth and your genetic susceptibility to these bacteria. This information allows Dr. Brown to develop a customized care and treatment plan to prevent any problems before they appear.
Intra Oral Cameras
Intra-oral cameras have greatly improved the way we examine our patients’ teeth. Using a pen-sized camera, we take video of your teeth and project the live image onto a television screen in the treatment room. This image is magnified, allowing us to better see and detect any decay, cracked or leaking fillings or other problems. This technology helps us diagnose and treat problems earlier than ever before.
The Cavitron is a dental tool that uses high frequency ultrasonic waves to clean teeth and provide gentle periodontal care – removing tartar above and below the gum line. This state-of-the-art instrument has a blunt tip that uses oscillating sound waves to gently vibrate the tartar away from your teeth. It’s so gentle that it can even be used to administer deep cleaning and gum therapy, many times without the need for anesthetic. The Cavitron is a safe, effective and painless alternative to traditional cleaning methods.
Computers in Treatment Rooms
Computers in every treatment room enable our team to have immediate access to all patient files. The file contains your health history and treatment plan, assuring consistency and quality of care.
Guru Patient Education
Do you have questions about certain treatments or procedures? The GURU patient education system has all the answers you’re looking for, presented in an interactive digital format.
Are you hesitant about proceeding with cosmetic dentistry? Not sure what the outcome will look like? With digital photography and digital imaging software, you can see an image of your smile – enhanced – before any treatment begins. First, we take a digital photograph of your smile. Then, through the magic of computer technology, we can manipulate the photo to show you just what your new smile will look like.
i-Cat Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System
The i-Cat Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System allows Dr. Brown to get 3-dimensional images of your entire oral and maxillofacial structures – in about a minute! What does this mean to you? Better imaging means Dr. Brown has complete information to use to design your treatment plan. It means more precise treatments and much better results! And for patients who have a dental phobia or sensitive gag reflex, this is also very good news because it’s much less invasive.
