Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays benefit both dentist and patient. Most importantly, digital x-rays significantly decrease the exposure time to radiation. With a digital x-ray, we take a picture of your teeth, and then almost immediately see it on a computer monitor. This large, color-enhanced image lets us get a better picture of your oral health, allowing for earlier treatment. This process is also better for the environment as it doesn’t use photo chemicals and traditional film, thus eliminating waste.
VELscope
As with any cancer, early detection is essential in oral cancer. This tool makes it quick and simple for us to spot abnormal or pre-cancerous cells with the use of a special blue light. If you have any abnormal cells, the VELscope will spot them. Oral DNA
Stop the dangers of periodontal disease before they start! Oral DNA Molecular Testing is the latest diagnostic system for periodontal disease risks. This clinical test provides accurate information about the pathogenic bacteria in your mouth and your genetic susceptibility to these bacteria. This information allows Drs. Tanya Brown and Matthew Cawley to develop a customized care and treatment plan to prevent any problems before they appear.
Oral CDX
The Oral CDX is a simple, yet remarkably effective device used to screen for oral cancer. Patients often have small oral “spots” in their mouths that, if left untreated, ould turn into cancer cells.
Using the CDX, Drs. Tanya Brown and Matthew Cawley can painlessly take a small sample of ells from the spot for testing. If they’re found to be pre-cancerous, the spot can be easily removed – years before it has the potential to do serious harm.
Cavitron
The Cavitron is a dental instrument that uses high frequency ultrasonic waves to clean teeth and provide gentle periodontal care – removing tartar above and below the gum line. This state-of-the-art instrument has a blunt tip that uses oscillating sound waves to gently vibrate the tartar away from your teeth. It’s so gentle that it can even be used to administer periodontal therapy, many times without the need for anesthetic. The Cavitron is a safe, effective and painless alternative to traditional hand-instrumentation methods.
Intra Oral Cameras
Intra-oral cameras have greatly improved the way we examine our patients’ teeth. Using a pen-sized camera, we take video of your teeth and project the live image onto a television screen in the treatment room. This image is magnified, allowing us to better see and detect any decay, cracked or leaking fillings or other problems. This technology helps us diagnose and treat problems earlier than ever before.

Computers in every treatment room enable our team to have immediate access to all patient files. The file contains your health history and treatment plan, assuring consistency and quality of care.
