Meet Dr. Matthew Cawley

Matthew Cawley, DMD, is The Center for Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry’s owner, and an expert dentist who is dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive dentistry with a focus on patient comfort and individual needs. A native of Yorktown, VA, Dr. Cawley worked with Dr. Brown as an intern, which solidified his passion for dentistry. After completing his education, he returned to the area to continue to deliver exceptional dental care to our patients and the Chesapeake community.

Dr. Cawley became a dentist to provide exceptional dentistry paired with genuine, five-star patient care. His goal is to partner and work together with patients to enhance not only their smiles, but also their overall health and confidence. He believes that everyone has unique priorities and that treatment should never be one-size-fits-all and works with patients to create customized dental journeys. He cares deeply about his patients’ well-being and is committed to offering honest guidance and the highest standard of dental care.

Dr. Cawley earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Chemistry at Virginia Tech and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine at University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He honed his skills through an advanced General Practice Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Cawley’s special interests include dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, digital smile design and All-on-X rehabilitation. He completed the International Team of Implantologists education week at The Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Dr. Arun Garg’s Dental Implant Seminars Continuum program.

As part of his commitment to furthering education and continually refining his skills and techniques, he has taken Advanced Courses at Spear Education and completed the Mastering Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry course at The Pankey Institute as well as the The Dawson Academy of Advanced Dentistry‘s Occlusion and Smile Design course.

Dr. Cawley is a member of the International Team for Implantology, the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Cawley lives in Virginia Beach with his wife, Hunter, and their daughter, Sutton. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his yellow lab, Miles, going to the beach, playing sports, hiking, playing golf and exploring new places.
